XIII Classic. The President of the United States of America has been assassinated and you’re the world’s prime suspect. The FBI, the CIA, and a gang of murderous killers are trying to hunt you down. Stricken with amnesia you remember nothing, not even who you are. You’re on your own and there is no one you can trust. All you have is a safe deposit key, a mysterious tattoo, and a gun. Clear your name, solve the mystery, and catch the true assassin before he strikes again. this is based on a Belgian comic with the same name. The story revolves around someone who suffers from amnesia. You wake up on the beach and soon after the lady helping you gets assassinated. You quickly pick up a knife you can throw and some guns as you keep eliminating your pursuers. Altogether there are 13 chapters and 34 missions to complete. You are the target of the authorities, too, since you are blamed for having assassinated the president.

Plus, cutscenes are presented as if we were checking out the latest issue of XIII but the panels have animation. It’s fun when during gameplay panels appear on top of the screen showing the death of an enemy who falls to his death. The presentation is superb! Soon after the first mission we find ourselves trapped without any guns. Some missions actually want us to do some stealth especially since we can’t kill the good guys. We can pick up objects and knock out patrolling guards. As we approach them we can hear their footsteps (the “Tap” pop-ups give it the usual comic book feel). Now, this is an old game so the save system is checkpoint based and does not take you back to the section you expect. Also, the highest resolution you can pick is 1400×900 which means you need to modify the ini file to make higher ones available. The artstyle is what makes this game so unique, too. It’s not only the cel-shading, you also have comic panels, speech bubbles… This game tries very hard to look like a comic book
