Imaginary Friend Asylum A psychological horror game about being a child in an insane asylum. You’re in a cruel world but your imaginary friends have your back. Here, you will uncover a dark conspiracy where you are to receive a terrible fate. It’s 1949, and you’re a new patient at Hathmoore Children’s Asylum. During your stay, you’ll explore and discover disturbing secrets, including the mysterious Ghost of the Asylum. Along the way, you will befriend other children and their imaginary friends. Together, you will uncover a dark conspiracy where you are to receive a terrible fate. This game is Indie horror at its best. Probably my favorite indie horror release of the year. It has a hauntingly beautiful story. The gameplay is simple but the story more than makes up for it. Speaking as an autistic person who has dealt with severe depression growing up Its depiction of mental illness in children and the history of mental health treatment was done very tactfully.

We eventually meet some new friends whom help us with the shenanigans. The game uses a very familiar building asset but it’s used pretty well here as it fits with the story. It ran fine for me durin my near hour play time. I just wish it had voice overs. Would’ve helped the story out more imo. I am curious to know how it ends tho. The price tag may be a bit high but I’ve seen worse prices similarly. An incredibly moving relatable story to those having grown up with mental health problems. one hell of an incredible horror game with very silly cutscenes and phenominal graphics. Very dark atmosphere and creative characters with a great story. I beat the game GG! If you like games like Fran Bow and American Mcgee’s Alice this game will be right up your alley. (Especially its depictions of historically accurate asylums and treatments.) My main qualm with this game.
