A very well made real time strategy game with the unique spin of having to handle the swarm. The swarm is basically the only resource you care about, you don’t have to mine gold or similar stuff but you start every encounter with 32k drones, and only later upgrades allow you to repair them after death. If you manage to loose all your drones you lost, the entire point is to constantly use the swarm in creative ways to protect your mothership and destroy enemies at the same time. Especially the energy move later is a tough decision to make as you

can use even more drones to strengthen other drones, making for example for stronger walls that can withstand laser barrages. As I participated in the second and third playtest I can also attest to how much the devs were willing to listen to the community during development, and a lot of stuff was tweaked or outright changed due to feedback. The devs took the time to listen to the players and even discussed some possibilities with them.

This is the most innovative gameplay I’ve seen in a while. It reminds me a bit of the movie Ender’s Game, where in the final fight also many drones are controlled by humans. Unfortunately the story is a bit weak. It’s predictable and exaggerated, though the animations and art style is looking very good. And there is a nice plot twist, which is unexpected and a welcome change. It took me 6h to reach it though. After that, the story wasn’t that cringe after all.

Apart from the story, the gameplay itself is fun! It’s fast paced due to the nature you have up to 4 different main actions for your drones: attack, defend, moving other objects, and amplification. You mainly use the first two, but the other two are needed in tricky situations as well. I like that you can control your swarm by just 4 keys on the keyboard and your mouse. You have to switch between these kinds of orders for your swarm very quickly, and still keep the Argo, your main ship, safe. It’s an indie title, and for that this gameplay is pretty unique. Despite the weak story, I can still recommend this game.
