You are Joe Castevet. Your grandfather has passed away and a phone call from your solicitor reveals that you have been bequeathed his manor. You pick up the keys and head down there to find a run down and neglected house in the middle of nowhere. Once a much-loved Grandson, you wrote to each other regularly and he supported you financially, but one day you lost all contact with your grandfather and never heard from him again. Whilst searching through the house and your grandfather’s belongings, you start to piece together events and

uncover the mystery of your grandfather’s disappearance. Insomnis is a horror adventure with puzzle elements which should take around three hours to complete. The game area is quite small and is contained within the house. You don’t venture outside at any time, and you’ll soon get used to the layout of the rooms which tend to repeat assets like the same books on bookshelves. It felt a bit lazy in that respect.

I was looking forward to this one, picked it up onsale, and it didn’t disappoint. Neat little ghost story, walking sim, puzzler with several easy achievements and a few not so much. Joe’s grandpa was a person participating in unethical activities for what he considered to be a good reason. After inheriting pop’s legacy, Joe has to figure out what to do with it, making his own moral choices while coming to terms with his grandpa’s abandonment

of him. About 2 hours of gameplay, straightforward puzzles, with a few jumpscares. No life-threatening elements. I couldn’t help feel that it lacked a bit of polish in some areas. For starters, I usually never talk about performance issues but there were regular noticeable frame drops throughout the game which caused stutters in game play. My PC was hot to the touch to the point I was worried about it, so optimization is probably not the best.
