Crawl Tactics is a unique hybrid of tactical RPG and roguelike. Manage a party of adventurers and use the environment to your advantage to conquer the dungeon. Turn-based tactical battles, pitting the team you built against groups of vicious enemies. Various skills and classes to customize your party. Battlefields and dungeons are procedurally generated. Various dungeon habitats. From forests to caverns and ruins to catacombs. Some rooms are filled with peril, and others with helpful NPCs. Deadly weapons and items.  Traps and hazards can be exploited by both you and your adversaries; take cover behind barrels or zap pools of water. There are basically no item drops. You’ll get one random item from a boss, which appears every so many floors (I’ve been to the third boss, I believe it was bosses on floor one, floor 3, then floor 6). Dead enemies don’t drop anything, ever. Treasure chests (other than bosses) only ever contain consumables, or maybe a skill book.

Edit: The developer has been very responsive and despite my negative overall review, I’m still playing the game. If you haven’t played the first one, and like a lot of difficulty and waiting (potentially a long time) to get a good run, this is a game you could spend a lot of time on and which might definitely be worth the money. I’m hoping the developer will keep working and fine tuning their ideas, in this or a future game. I really enjoyed this creators first game, and the early demo for this game, and was super excited about this… but try as I might I can’t enjoy this game. If there were a neutral I’d rate it that, but I do feel like if I have to choose this game has worked a bit to earn the negative.mIf you’ve played the first game, Sigma Finite Dungeon, and are considering buying this my review is mostly for you. The two games are very similar and very little of what’s changed comes across as a benefit to me.
